Since the vintage art education textbooks I reprint have exercises and are meant to be used, I decided to put together these free worksheet sets to accompany the books. Each exercise is designed for our modern classrooms and art studios. They are meant to teach, but also be fun! Don’t take any of the lessons too seriously or as dogma. They are perfect for art school programs, art workshops, and homeschool groups.

Free Pencil Sketching Worksheets
This first set of worksheets was created to accompany George W. Koch’s Pencil Sketching Revised Edition. These daily pencil sketching exercises take you through each chapter and technique presented in the book. They are designed to sharpen the student’s observation, ability to capture accurate proportions, and to assist in building muscle memory.

Free Color Theory Exercise Worksheets
This second set of worksheets is meant to accompany Henry Barrett Carpenter’s book, Suggestions for the Study of Colour, Revised Edition. These exercises are a bit more advanced and take the students through identifying the Natural Order of Color, Harmony, Contrast, and Discord. It includes five main lessons, final exercises for each lesson, and recommendations for continuing exercises to help improve each artist’s ability to see and use color in their compositions.

I’m still working on the lessons from The Theory and Practice of Color, but I’ll have them up soon.
